Beacon Light Civic League
President: Mrs. Pamela Rodgers Vice President: Mr. George Banks History: The Beacon Light civic league was formed 64 years ago (1941) by eight male residents of the Berkely section of Norfolk, Virginia. The League hoped to organize a statewide organization, The Virginia Neighborhood Program. Through this program, the League had a significant number of years in helping seniors with their medical bills and transportation, tutoring, supplying shoes for children In 1972 the League was responsible for the construction of a 236 project on 128 units of townhouses and garden apartments which is 100% occupied. The Beacon Light Civic League may be the only Civic League in the State of Virginia that owns a housing complex. We have to this date In 2003, Mrs. Pamela Rodgers was elected President of the League...making history by becoming the first female President in 64 years. Mrs. Rodgers serves as President today. You are invited to attend and join: The Beacon Light Civic League meets every second Sunday of each month at the Horace Downing Library, Liberty Street, September through June.
